Raising funds for charity may be something you consider doing through your small business. Please note there are a number of rules in running fundraising activities, and therefore it is suggested to do something along the lines of what we did here. The charity will provide both guidelines to running a successful fundraising attempt, but also will provide the official payment gateway, avoiding any possible questions of impropriety that could creep in if you collected funds yourself. We had auction winners donate directly to the charity page, and Tanja transferred the cash raffle money received on the day the same day.

This page is left here to provide ongoing thanks to our amazing supporters who helped us in donating 12 ponytails of hair (priceless – 10 from my crazy thick hair!) and $3585 in funds raised for the charity directly. 

 

Our fundraising event – the big hair chop

Since I was 10 years old I’ve had long hair. A bad haircut which turned into boofy wings when growing out completely put me off short hair. On Sunday 10 April 2022 myself and two friends and local Western Sydney business owners chopped our beloved hair off for charity. All funds raised $3585 (as at 20 April 2022) were donated to Variety – The Children’s Charity. Tanja and myself donated our hair to Variety’s Hair With Heart, and Sheila to Sustainable Salons.

Tanja Moukarzel of BYB Be Your Best gym in Kings Park, Blacktown and Sheila Cabacungan of Wealth Forum were the other lovely ladies involved. Although we chopped our hair voluntarily, when long hair is all you know, short hair was going to be a real shock!

Tanja was the lady behind the hair chop. She shared her intentions to chop her precious long hair in her BYB Be Your Best fitness community, and I volunteered to join her! Tanja is one busy lady running a fitness centre in Kings Park Blacktown and mum to three boisterous young boys.

Sheila Cabacungan is an independent financial planner in Western Sydney in her business Wealth Forum. She has a particular focus on ensuring small business owners do not retire poor. Sheila’s hair was donated to another charity – Sustainable Salons as it is long but dyed. She is also a Radio DJ with 2 shows on SWR 99.9FM.

Auction terms – you must abide by auction terms before bidding on any items.

Auction was held live Sunday 10 April 2022 from 11.45am.

Auction will be broadcast on Live Webinar (embedded on this web page or open https://app.livewebinar.com/865-409-057), and on Facebook Live from BYB and FAQ Business Training. Please note that the auction bids will be based off bids received in person at the event, bids received prior to auction in the comments on this page (right at the bottom), and bids received during the auction via Live Webinar. Note DO NOT bid on Facebook Lives as there is often a 20 second delay and we cannot be held responsible for bids not received on time.

  • Bids may be placed in person at the live auction or via the LiveWebinar livestream which will appear on this webpage until the item is closed for bidding. You may bid prior (refer final dot point).
  • All items, unless advised otherwise, must be picked up at the event or from BYB in Kings Park, Blacktown, Western Sydney by arrangement with Tanja or her team.
  • All items must be paid for on the day at the event OR directly to the fundraising site. You agree to pay the fundraising page fee on top of your winning bid. Any item not paid for on the day will be offered to the next in line bidder. They will have till the end of the next day to pay their winning bid + fee to the donation site.
  • We will only accept bids from people we know, OR people who are prepared to pay a $50 non-refundable donation to the fundraising BEFORE the auction starts. You understand if you don’t win the item you have paid a donation to the fundraising instead. People we know can bid without this requirement. This is simply to avoid timewasters. 
  • We will not be held responsible for any issues with the auction, technology or time lags. Our decision is final and we will not be liable for any issues.
  • If you cannot make the Live Auction (online below or in person) we will accept pre-auction bids up to 11am in the comments at the bottom of this page. Please clearly state the auction item you are bidding on, your name, your starting bid (minimum $50 as all items are valued at over $100, some well over), and your maximum bid, and confirm your agreement to the auction terms. By making a bid you are agreeing to complete the purchase should you be the winning bidder.

Raffle was held live Sunday 10 April 2022 from 11.15am.

Raffle will be broadcast on LiveWebinar (embedded on this web page under the auction section – add your name to open the livestream), and on Facebook Live. Please note raffle tix will be available at the event OR via donation completed by 10.30am through the donation site. You must note in the comment field you want raffle tix. $15 will get you ten tickets (please add the fee if donating online via the fundraising site). We are not responsible for raffle ticket requests not received on time.

  • Raffle tickets in lots of ten may be purchased at the live event till the raffle start time, or via the donation site until 10.30am, or until raffle tickets run out if earlier
  • Single tickets may be purchased at the event only for $2 a ticket.
  • You will have 30 seconds to claim your prize and you can take another 30 seconds to choose. If bought remotely and we don’t hear from you in that time we will put a prize of our random choice aside for you.
  • All items, unless advised otherwise, must be picked up at the event or from BYB in Kings Park, Blacktown, Western Sydney by arrangement with Tanja or her team.
  • All raffle tickets must be paid for on the day at the event OR directly to the fundraising site before the raffle cut off time. You agree to pay the fundraising page fee on top of your raffle ticket purchase.
  • If you do not contact BYB about pickup by 17 April 2022, your item will be re-drawn on a Facebook Live.
